The Importance of the Role of Human Resources Sergeant in Profession of Arms What it means to be a Profession, before we go into the details there are certain things that we need to have in order to be considered a profession. Individuals need to have certain attributes and standards, just to mention a few: moral code, values, dedication, motivation, responsibility and mentorship for others to follow. Anyone that possesses a job just by showing up on a daily basis and complete the assigned tasks of the day does not mean a profession. Profession is made out of men and woman that work as a Team to accomplish their mission their common goal and be highly qualified and trained in their respective areas of expertise. In order to be part of any Profession we need to be organized and train through a systematic process that allowed us for a better performance and to mentor junior personnel to be better individuals and leaders. There are some areas that need to be assessed when comparing the responsibilities of any Leader. A Leader must set the example at all times in front of his or her peers or higher officials to ensure mission accomplishment at the same time. The Leader is required to maintain a high degree of control, time management and most of all prioritizing skills. It is very important that Leaders have confidence and trust within his or her Soldiers to complete a variety of tasks at the same time managing their own. Multitasking in today’s Army is very important and is an absolute necessity. In today’s Army things continues changing and Leaders need to adapt to those changes and to handle difficult situations as they come. Leaders need to balance their level of responsibility to what is already entrusted in them from their peers and subordinates. Most of the time we see our Senior Leaders accomplishing multiple tasks and responsibilities and once in order to cover for their subordinates and leaders and in addition managing their office.
