Throughout the tail of the adventures of Huck Finn I decided to choose chapter 42 to do a close analysis in which I found the chapter to have many key points to discuss. It also helped that this was one of the longest chapters in the book. In this short essay I will go over points ranging from symbolism to first impressions to patterns and Characterization.
After completing this book I found that chapter 42 was a story of its own after Sid (Tom Sawyer) didn’t show up back at the house it really threw the family for a loop in this Aunt Sally had some problems and ended up staying up all night waiting for him to come home and after a day of not coming home she had truly been worried however when he finally did show up she at first had thought

I also find it a little humorous how Huck is able to hide almost anything that he wants including the letter stating that only one of them should be there and that he was able to prevent, at least temporarily, Aunt Sally and Uncle Silas from figuring out the truth about what was going on. One part of the book that I found was really annoying was how many times the book used the term “by and by” it was quite annoying to find that the term had been used eighty five times throughout the entire book also in the last couple of chapters of the book it was also strange when they used the term “I’s” over twenty times. To get back on the topic in this chapter it shows many points that are a little bit contradicting from the start of the chapter it talks about how it is all poor Sid but by the end of the chapter it all is turned around back on him and his entire plot to break jim out of the shed was when you could truly see the racism and what not that can be found in the book where Aunt Sally is all flustered with Sid for trying to break out a slave. The way that jim was treated was truly terrible they cussed him out so bad and to find out that he was actually a free slave they all flipped along with when the doctor gave the story about how this n#$$%@ wasn’t so bad and actually
