The National controversy whether to keep The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in high school curriculum, still lingeries today. Through numerous research, there were three critical evidence, why it is important to keep Huckleberry Finn in high school curriculums. How Twain’s usage of satire helped move the characters throughout the novel. The historical content, to educate students on different writing styles and or the era of which Twain existed. Then the final reasoning found is lessons, how the lessons can relate to the students. While the counter calm would be focused on Twain's writing coming off a little racist in the novel. When Ron Briley taught his class about Huckleberry Finn, written in 1884 by Mark Twain. How Huck goes under a lot of moral changes and how that affects the way that Huck sees Jim, for example when Huck lies to the townspeople or when Huck lies to Jim about how they are looking for both them not how they were just looking for Jim (Doyno). While Twain’s goal of writing the book was to show how slavery was an ugliness of evil. Some teachers don’t want Huckleberry Finn to be in the teaching lessons due to the usage of the “N” word. Even though the teachers believe it is an classic American novel because they know the “N” word was a modern word (Hutchinson). Chadwick believes that to certain people Twain’s usage of the “N” word will be an impression that he is racist. And Chadwick an African American admits he would rather discuss position on race with a room full of white people than to review Twain’s book (Chadwick).
