Human actions have many effects on how a person develops and changes over time. These effects can determine the type of personality they develop into.Jean Louise ( Scout) Finch is an example of change in a society filled with prejudice folk. In the book “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, there are many examples of how human compassion can change a person, these people are either horrible people or respected, well known people. Human compassion is the feeling of pity or need to help another living thing, but sometimes lack of human compassion can change a person positively or negatively.
To begin, there are many folks who lack human compassion in harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird”, but no one compares to the compassion of Atticus Finch who is a successful, well known, respected …show more content…

Atticus is a very honest and humble man, but lack of compassion to someone else brings the bad side of him. In chapter 23, Atticus is asked why Aunt Alexandra thinks that the Cunninghams are trash, Atticus defines his own opinion on what trash is to him. Trash is someone who takes advantage of a non defensible person (such as a coloured man or woman) for not having the same rights as the white folk.
In addition, sometimes lack of human compassion can turn someone into an appreciative person who understands others feelings of hate, reject, and loneliness. Tom Robinson is an example of an appreciative person who only wishes to help others who need the help, without asking to be payed. In chapter 19, Tom Robinson is in trial for accusation of rape.
