The author Edgar Allen Poe portrays this theme in his short story, “Tell Tale Heart”. During this short story a man believes he is being haunted by an evil entity trapped within an old man; the entity of the old man’s eye. Edgar Allen Poe uses repetition, imagery and a conversational tone to convey that people are what they say they are.
