Human nature refers to the characteristics of mankind. This includes how we think, our feelings, and our actions. Throughout history, we have tried to convince ourselves that the true nature of humans is good but realistically, that’s not true. William Golding uses his novel “Lord of the Flies” to show that humans, no matter the age, can be essentially bad. Humans weren’t satisfied with abusing and torturing others, so they threw an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, immediately affecting thousands of Japanese lives. In the article “Hiroshima and the Nagasaki bombing,” the effects of the bomb are explained. When the bomb was thrown on August 6, 1945, it had “an explosive yield equal to 15,000 tonnes of TNT. It razed and burnt around 70 percent of all buildings and caused an estimated 140,000 deaths by the end of 1945, along with increased rates of cancer and chronic disease among the survivors.” This exemplifies that humans are evil because it shows how humans do anything it takes to survive, even if it means killing thousands of innocent people.
