In Of Mice And Men there are so many human rights problems that it makes me wonder how did some people go from dirt poor to wealthy. The main human right problem in Of Mice And Men is that Lennie can’t get the healthcare that he needs because he is poor. After reading the novel and doing some research I have found a solution to this human rights problem that can help lots of people and could help Lennie. The solution I have found is that the government could tax people a little bit more than they are normally taxed and in return the government can use that money to inform people about people with mental illnesses and the government can also about up healthcare buildings so people can go get the health care that they need and deserve. Some people with be mad about getting taxed more and some people wouldn’t mind getting taxed more as long as it is doing something like helping someone that needs help or saving their lives. “About 800 000 people commit suicide every year…Mental disorders and harmful use of alcohol contribute to many suicides around the world.”(www.who.int) The people I think that won’t like getting taxed the most are people like Lennie and George who are struggling with money as is but I think if they made more money they wouldn’t mind the solution that I have come up with to the human rights problem in Of Mice And Men.
The solution that I have come up with to the human rights problem in Of Mice And Men will only work if lots of people cooperate. If people don’t cooperate by not paying a little be more taxes then my solution will not be effective as if everyone did.
