After the Crusades happened, many articles and sources were written, one being a nonfiction article from “Science and it’s Times” about “The Crusades'', which is proven right because it is a nonfiction source and proves my claim to be right because the Christians had intention to violate the muslims. This topic “The Crusades' ' is relevant to the enduring issue “Human Rights Violations' ' because how Christians and Muslims committed violations against each other during the religious wars caused when the Christians wanted to take the Holy Land from the Muslims. “In 1081, Alexius I. Comnenus ascended to the Byzantine throne. Previously a military commander, he was determined to regain the provinces lost to the Seljuk Turks… He borrowed a concept from his muslim neighbors: jihad or holy war. Alexius, on behalf of the Byzantine Christians, wrote to Pope Urban II appealing to him and to western princes for military aid. This topic “Christians' ' is relevant to the enduring issue “Human rights violations' ' because the Crusades were between Christians and Muslims and the Christians initiated the war first so it’s important to learn about their side’s perspective. “Urban II’s call for participation in an expedition to the East at the Councillor Clermont “God wills it!” to be the divinely inspired battlecry for the Crusaders. Thousands took the cross, especially French, Norman, and Flemish knights. Several bands of badly armed pilgrims from France and Germany, most of them poor and inexperienced, set out of Constantinople, even before the army gathered. Some started by massacring jews on their way through Germany.” (Crusades: Christian Perspective, Encyclopedia of Religion, 2005). This evidence proves that the Christians believed that “God willed it” and they needed to fight the Muslims for their Holy Land, which is war propaganda - a human right violation. Then the Christians, poor, strong, inexperienced, etc from many countries came and fought many muslims in the wars and even massacred jews on their way to Germany which is another human right violation. This proves my thesis that
