Many proponents as well as advocates of gentrification like to use in many regard as code words to back up their claim that gentrification brings “revitalization” “urban renewal” and more importantly “enhances” the community. However, these are what many who are critical of gentrification deem to be “ code words”, because they appear to be ones that exude positivity when they are in fact not expressing the full story of the argument, because underneath this creeping positivity. There still exists this form of stereotyping that minorities, or those from lower socioeconomic means cannot create something that is unique or successful on their own. Furthermore, what existed in their communities before gentrification was one that brought little to no value to society.

Most people think that slavery and human trafficking starts with dramatic kidnapping and luring children into cars and vans. This is usually not the case slavery and human trafficking most commonly begin by parents or guardians being in debt and owing money. Most parents are told that their child will have a better education and will be provided for better than the parents could provide.

Human smuggling is a type of illegal immigration in which an agent is paid to help a person cross the border clandestinely. Human trafficking is the exploitation of unwillingly or unwitting people through force, coercion, threat, or deception. (Schmalleger; Pg. 380) The difference between the two, is that human smuggling the party/individual is aware and willing to cross the border, and in human trafficking the party/individual is unaware or unwilling to cross the border. It pretty sad to think that this issue is easily over looked every day, but I think the best way to help stop the issue is make people more aware of the issue.
The group of people who do not have the rights that every human should be guaranteed or the power to put an end to their hardships is continuously rising. A few of the basic necessities of life are being denied to this group. From being tricked into leaving their families for false promises of a better life, to being forced to live in a run-down community, these people do not even have the resources to improve their lives or the ability to leave the situation they are in. Weitzer, a professor at George Washington University believes that human trafficking is not as large a problem as many citizens may believe. He stated that “…a ton of money indeed has been thrown at the problem — funding dubious ‘research’ as well as enforcement and interventions in the form of raids.” In his opinion, this money is doing nothing to stop human trafficking and should be used in a more helpful way for the United States. Human trafficking by definition is a hidden crime because most people are uneducated and unaware of it; however, the general public’s social awareness of this modern day slavery could lead to action being taken to prevent it. According to Free the Slaves, there are approximately 20 to 30 million slaves in the world today who are sold at about $90. 19 percent of human trafficking involves labor exploitation. This includes those working in domestic work, construction, agriculture, and commercial sex. 80 percent of human trafficking involves sexual exploitation.
In addition to legislation on human trafficking, criminal justice systems must turn their attention to educating law enforcement officers about the nature and extent of trafficking, while also equipping them with the tools essential to handling these cases. Adequate training is necessary for law enforcement to understand the intricacies of trafficking cases and how to investigate them properly. Farrell, Owens, and McDevitt (2014) stress the need for such specialized training in order for law enforcement officers to embrace new legislation on trafficking, and to understand how to respond to these sensitive cases. Other criminal justice professionals, such as prosecutors, judges, and court personnel, can also benefit from specialized human trafficking
Many of the victims are forced with violence or indirectly with psychological blackmail into the sex trade. Human trafficking is the worst form of abuse that can be inflicted on an individual. A trafficked human being suffers from mental, and physical abuse, leaving them with lifelong mental illnesses.
