The renaissance error denotes various forms of art, including sculptures, paintings, and engravings. The central theme of all these works was humanism, as it portrayed the greater power held by humans. Earlier medieval art portrayed images of divine deities controlling human acts. This is due to the fact that the church was the most powerful and wealthiest body before the Renaissance. Because of their wealth, they were the main commissioners of art. The art they had commissioned showed the need for God and the weakness of the common man. Since the Renaissance was essentially a “re-birth”, people moved away from these ideals and began using humanism as a basis for their art. This shift in ideals did take time as all things do.
