Humanities has been an extremely eye-opening and educational course that has taught me a lot about how to improve myself for the betterment of my own being and others. In this course I became well-versed on topics such as the philosophical origins of religion, proper time and self-management, how religion varies significantly between the vast plethora of religious paths, and taught me how to improve both my school life and personal life by assisting others before myself. Religion was a specific idea we deeply explored as a primary unit root in this course and could be observed in many weekly assignment overviews. I have substantially grown my education on topics such as international religions, the studies of politics and how the government influences my daily life, and the internal value that is found in helping others for the benefit of my community. Following the community service project, I developed a love for helping young children grow their love for learning and acquiring knowledge. Knowing that I was helping another person grow was gratifying beyond measure and I will forever internally hold that memory in my heart. Since this, I have continued to contribute to my community. I have grown avidly involved in awareness projects, food and clothing drives, and benefits for the ill. Undeterred by it only being taught through a computer screen, these memories and thoughts are so powerful that they transcended the need for a physical classroom and have taught me a lot about myself and the surrounding world around me. Prior to this school was definitely interesting, but it could not compare to how interesting and engaging this course has been for my peers and I. I had previously taken two psychology courses that taught me an intense amount of knowledge about the development of the human mind and its thought processes, but it did not cover other aspects of life such as society as a whole. This course compensated for those gaps and helped me learn and discover how society shapes and formulates the people we mature into once we become adults. These two forces combined have changed a variety of perspectives I had on school and my overall personal life. I now see the promising value that will come with me completing higher education. Once I complete college, I will use my degree and knowledge to benefit my community. This course helped me mature into a better student, a kinder and more loving family member, and a gracious community
