In the book, The Hunger Games, one of the main events is when Katniss volunteers for her sister, Prim, to participate in the annual Hunger Games. After reading this event, I was very surprised. I noticed that Katniss surprised herself by saying she would volunteer, but then quickly recovered once she remembered that the reaping would be shown on television. “…this is upsetting me and I don’t want to cry. When they televise the replay of the reapings tonight, everyone will make note of my tears, and I’ll be marked as an easy target.
Once Katniss and Peeta were brought into the hovercraft and were healed, the capitol would question them about what was going through their minds when they were about to kill themselves with poisonous berries. The capitol is not happy with them threatening to do this, and during the interview, the only excuse Katniss could use was her “love” for Peeta: “‘Your only defense can be you were so madly in love you weren’t responsible for your actions’” (Collins 845). This provides an explanation of what happened on Katniss’ journey back home, and the step she follows in act three. This is important because this wraps up the end of the hero journey, and Katniss’ journey.
After both Katniss and Peeta win the Hunger Games, they return home and create a rebel party against the Capitol. Katniss and Peeta are drafted again into the 75th Hunger Games, and Katniss destroys the Hunger Games. In doing this, Peeta is captured by the Capitol and kept as a prisoner of war. In order to save Peeta and the Districts, Katniss unites the people against the Capitol. They form an army that passes through the security of the Capitol and saved Peeta.
Going from surviving to thriving In the fictional story The Game by Monica Hughes and the fictional movie The Hunger Games by Suzzane Collins both main characters go on epic journeys using innovation, tenacity, and creativity to go from surviving to thriving. Tenacity is a form of determination. Tenacity was a much needed skill in both The Game and The Hunger Games in order for the characters to survive. On page 22 in the game it says “That lock on the door is a Mickey Mouser.”
Overtime, Katniss and Peeta join together and become unstoppable. This is due to Katniss’s talent with the bow and Peeta’s impressive strength. Even though Katniss and Peeta end up being the last two survivors, they still had to make a lot of sacrifices to still be alive. Throughout the story, it is obvious that it is adventurous. But through the adventure there were many sacrifices.
In the book “Hunger Games book 2:Catching fire”, after winning the 74th annual Hunger Games because after the rules of the games were changed so that there could only be one winner instead of two so her and Peeta decided to both eat poison berries so that their would be no winner. But at the last second it is announced that they both won. President Snow was not amused by this rebellious act so before Katniss and Peeta go on the victory tour, six months after the games, where they visit all 12 districts through Panem and give speeches to each districts people, president Snow speaks with just Katniss in private and threatens that if she doesn't convince him and the rest of Panem that her and Peeta are madly in love there would be dire consequences
Human nature seems to be totally different in the next novel. In The Hunger Games, a male and female are selected out of twelve districts every year to participate in the games. The point of the game is to be placed in an inescapable battlefield and fight to the death. If a character wins the games you receive money, food, a house, and prestige. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark are a part of the annual game.
Every time I think about her spinning around in that dress, I want to puke.” (Collins 162) This shows us that Peeta teamed up with the Careers and made Katniss lose a lot of trust in him. Before the Games started we saw that Katniss and Peeta actually started to develop a relationship, but when she overheard that conversation it made her trust dissipate. Then, when she found him lying in the mud, sick and injured, she was sketchy because of what had happened in the tree.
Throughout the book they start to become friends and realize many things they didn’t really know they would learn. In the beginning of the book Peeta tried to help Katniss in many ways. He told people that he was in love with her to help her get sponsors. Also, at the beginning of the games Peeta shook his head to Katniss telling her not to go the the supply area to try to save her from the blood bath.
At this point in the story, they have finally reached the surreal moment of winning the Hunger Games. In chapter twenty, page three hundred and forty five, the text states," '... Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to present the victors of the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark!' I give you---the tributes of District 12!' " Katniss's perseverance has paid off.
Peeta Mellark, one of the main characters in the book The Hunger Games, once said, “ My nightmares are usually about losing you. But I am okay once I realise your here.” The novelis about two teens from each district in the country Panem being selected to be in the Hunger Games, a reality TV show that requires them to fight to the death. Over the course of the novel, the two main characters, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, develop romantic feelings for each other.
Katniss and Peeta develop a complicated relationship throughout the novel, and conflicts of interests, plus the entire nature of their relationship can be can be easily scrutinized, once closely examined. From the beginning of the novel, Peeta goes out of his way to care for Katniss, and at one point suffers phsical abuse from his mother in order to feed her a loaf of bread. “The boy took one look back to the bakery as if checking that the coast 32 was clear, then, his attention back on the pig, he threw a loaf of bread in my direction. The second quickly followed, and he sloshed back to the bakery, closing the kitchen door tightly behind him.” (Collins 32).
Katniss wasn't originally chosen she volunteer for her sister. When she begin this adventure she thought it was to protect her sister but maybe she volunteered for a different reason. Before the games start she and Peeta Mellark will stay in the Capitol, and prepare for the games and learn about their components. When Katniss was staying in the Capitol, she didn’t mind
The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, by Suzanne Collins, is a story that presents a futuristic society struggling to survive in a world of inequality. After winning the 74th Hunger Games, Peter Mallark and Katniss Everdeen are placed in the position of revolutionary’s as districts begin to rebel against the Capitol. Enraged by presidents Snows decisions to draft her and Peeta into the Hunger Games once more, Katniss realizes that there will never be peace and equality in the districts. With the help of Cinna, Katniss Stylist, the narrator is able to display her hatred towards the president by igniting her outfit
Katniss overheard a conversation about Peeta in her little tree so she immediately told him. This is because they trust each other so she wanted to help him out and warn him: “Why don’t we just kill him now and
