Divergent Hunger Games: A Comparison Essay Would you stick to your principles even if the odds were stacked against you? That is something that heroines Katniss Everdeen and Beatrice "Tris" Prior learn firsthand in the films The Hunger Games (directed by Gary Ross) and Divergent (directed by Neil Burger), respectively. The two heroines share a few striking similarities with each other yet contrast each other in certain ways. Specifically, Katniss and Tris appear to share the same compassion and affinity for mind games while they differ with respect to their methods and execution. First, Katniss Everdeen demonstrates compassion when dealing with stressful situations in The Hunger Games. One of the most notable scenes in the film is the part where she responds to the selection of her younger sister, Primrose, for The Hunger Games.
