I bet you didn’t know that every year Americans throw out 40% of their food. Another way to look at is there is 31 million tons of food added to landfills every single year. That’s a lot of food, especially when some people have to worry about when their next actual meal will be. Studies have also recently showed that all the food waste is bad for the enrolment. Everyone needs to become aware of the facts so we can prevent food waste and hunger in the U.S Imagine waking up just as hungry and thirsty as the day before. Believe it or not there are a ton of organizations whose main goal is to reduce world hunger and hunger in the U.S. We all definitely know the world isn’t low on food. There are also a ton of organizations whose goal is to reduce food waste. All it takes is for everyone to lend a hand. We have two big problems that need to be fixed and they both go hand in hand. Find a local organization that provides food for people that need it in your area. Donate money there or volunteer. You can even take in canned food that you bought, but don’t need to your food pantry. It can even be as simple as othering to pick up a bag or two of grocers for a family in need in your area. You can also find an organization that sees the bigger picture. It’s all about the bigger picture. We have to stop hunger everywhere; we have to feed the world. At the same time we have to stop wasting so much food. It’s just a simple and only buying what you need. There is a program called the U.S Food Waste Challenge that encourages producers, nonprofits, retailers, government agencies and consumers to become aware of the food waste issue.
