When it comes to the novel, Lord of the Flies, some of us will readily agree that the boys’ immoral and savage acts exposed at the end of the novel, demonstrates the evil that lives naturally within humankind. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of was the cause for the boys’ immoral and savage conducts a biological or an environmental factor. Whereas some are convinced that biological factors are to blame, others maintain that the situation or the environment is to blame for their behavior. In my own view, both factors are to blame for the boys’ immoral and savage behavior, but the environment the boys’ where force to live had the most impact on their actions. Being deserted on an unknown island can cause any individual to experience a variety of emotions all at once; from fear, to anger, and then excitement.

Through the end of “Southern Night” the most significant central idea in the development of Richard Wright’s autobiography is hunger. Richard faces hunger his whole life, he has a hunger for acceptance, and knowledge. Richard starts to struggle with hunger in his family once his father leaves. When Mr. Wright leaves Richard and the family, his mother wasn’t able to provide him with a sufficient amount of food. This leads to them moving in with Granny and Aunt Addie, where Richard was never able to feel acceptance.
(Chapter 4) Time has passed after the plane has crashed and the boys have set up rules to make themselves more organized and productive. By afternoon, the sun becomes hot, and some of the boys lost their sanity due to them they seeing mirages over the water (which are illusions that the mind images but aren’t really there), but Piggy ignores them because he believes, with past knowledge, they are the effect of the sunlight hitting water. But, as night time comes, some of the boys called the “Littluns” have nightmares and bad visions of a “beastie” which they said hunts in the darkness. These boys were usually to themselves and kept their privacy, but one and a while they got “bullied” by some of the boys. Like always they would usually get some fruit and eat them, however as they chomp down at fruits the Littluns suffered diarrhea and many other stomach diseases.

There exists a tremendous amount of emotions that can alter a human into someone they thought they would never become. Envy can consume the strongest of people from the inside out. William Golding shows this envious behavior in his book Lord of the Flies through a boy named Jack Merridew. However, this behavior can also occur in the real world, quite more often than someone would expect.
In a life or death situation people will go to great lengths to survive. A fire burns in them which pushes them to keep trying. This characteristic is found in most stories we read and in everyday life. It can be found in Lord of the Flies, In competitions and sports, and in everyday life. One thing that people would do to survive is kill.
The literal hunger was introduced when his father left him. Hunger haunted Richard always; but after his father left, Richard writes “Now I began to wake up at night to find hunger standing at my bedside, staring at me gauntly” (156). such a moderate amount of it that the boys...would know what it was to go with their hunger unsatisfied for he believed that those who underwent this training would be better able to continue working on an extremely empty stomach. In order to have energy and to fulfill the task needed, a person needs to eat food to survive.
In the excerpt “Hunger” by Richard Wright, discovering the ways of society helps you find the power within. In this matter, Richard’s father has left Richard, Richard’s younger brother and Richard’s mother. Richard explained his mother’s lecture, “ Telling us that we now had no father, that our lives would be different from those of other children” (2), this showed Richard’s family discovering what it felt like to be abandoned and starving. In addition, they had learned that they must rely on the three of them to make money, take care of the house and get the food. Indeed hunger and being abandoned are true hardships but gives Richard’s family a reason to work hard for.
Richard’s craving for education comes up because of his curiosity. There are a lot of students in RIchard’s neighbourhood and while peeking at some of their books, he learns to recognize some words and read a bit. Reading more and more, his curiosity grows. After Richard recites the numbers 1-100 to his mother that he’d learned from a coal man, “She was dumbfounded. After that she taught [him] to read, told [him] stories” (Wright 23).
The word hunger can have dozens upon dozens of meanings. Hunger can mean the need for food, or a need to travel and explore, and many more. Depending on the individual, hunger can be as large as traveling all around the world, or having a small meal. Hunger can vary vastly from one person to another, and some have more than others. However, for M. F. K. Fisher, the author of “Young Hunger”, proves that the youth of our civilization have the strongest of hunger.

Maybe even a personal hunger such as achieving a GPA of 3.0. The point is humans hunger or feel the need to set a goal and attain it. Throughout the novel The Brief Wondrous Life Of Oscar Wao the characters who develops the need or hunger to prove to society or a person they are able to match up or exceed the standards that have been put on to them which connects to the theme people search for acceptance through making others happy before themselves.
