After finishing my undergrad studies in Architecture technology at the New York City College Of Technology, I want to return to academic study and undertake graduate studies in urban planning at the Hunter College. While I was pursuing my college undergrad degree at NYCCT, I got a job as an intern working alongside an urban planner at the department of health and mental hygiene.This internship was an amazing experience. During my time there I had the opportunity to participate in several interesting projects around neighborhood rezoning proposals and active transportation. I soon realized that, although I enjoy architecture and designing buildings, I am more intrigued about the planning and sustainability of underserved neighborhoods and communities. I believe that pursuing a graduate degree in Urban Planning is a necessary step in the development of my career. My interest for urban planning started during the second year of my undergrad studies at NYCCT. I’ve been always been in love with the design of buildings and site planning. Although many of my architecture technology degree courses came easy for me, it was the courses of urban planning and design that really capture my interest. During my final years of undergrad studies, I handled numerous urban scale projects that entailed analyzing and resolving complex urban issues. This has helped acquire a comprehensive approach to urban planning and design. Specifically, in my last semester, I carried out a project that entailed the redesigning of the Red Hook Atlantic Basin in Brooklyn, where I came with a plan that not only changed the landscape and building environment of the basin, but one that came up with ideas to revitalize the neighborhood of Red Hook
