Hunting has been part of the United States ever since it got it's independence from Britain. It was around even before America was created. When Native Americans owned the land, they hunted buffalo for food, pelts, and hides. Fishing has also been a part of history. People would make traps or making poles out of weeds and plants. But now, people are being forced to pay for fishing and hunting licenses. Without a doubt, fishing and hunting licenses should be free. Granted, people have been paying for licences for hundreds and hundreds of years. If people have been willing to pay for licences why would people make it free to go hunting? More importantly, the states should have the say on if they want their residents to pay for hunting and fishing licences. For example, Montana is known for its forests, and lakes. It's one of the most animal populated states. Thats due to the massive forests and mountains the state contains. More than likely, people in the state would let their residents hunt for free. Sates more like New York, maybe wouldn't due to the small animal life they have in that state. But even so, it's the state's political leaders decision to decide if they are free or not. But, since the animal population is so high in Montana, residents would more than likely be able to hunt and fish for free. The editors for the Montana fish and wildlife park website once said, “Montana is home to breeding populations of over 110 mammal species” ("Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks :: Species of Montana"). What they are saying, is that there are over 100 different types of mammals located in Montana. To continue, the price for fishing and hunting licenses combined are expensive.
