Hunting is done for sport, but it’s also done for sustenance; regardless of its purpose, hunting is permissible in most any country. Many governments allow it only in moderation to varying extents, and the reason for that is that animals are preyed upon by the animal that essentially sits atop the food chain: human beings. As empathetic human entities, governments regulate it in the interest of animal protection and preservation as a means to stave off species extinction.
