Nike was named the most innovative company of the year 2013, according to Fast Company. Nike’s goal as a company is to design innovative, sustainable and stylish products. As a company it wants to push itself and it’s consumer “to reach the next level of achievement.” (Nike,inc) There are three main goals that serve as the founding principals of the company; to serve athletes, expand the company and deliver inspiration for the forward thinkers. Nike has five separate major departments that make it a global brand.  NIKE Brand  Converse  Hurley International LLC  Jordan Brand NIKE Golf These subsidiaries show that Nike is in every sport and in every apparel market. When most people hear Nike, they think about the normal sneakers that they wear to the gym. It is widely overlooked that this company has expanded into numerous markets. “For $305 Million, Nike Buys Converse.” (New York Times) Nike also purchased the famous Hurley as a subsidiary, which expanded them into surfing and skateboarding market, and lastly NIKE Golf, which focus solely on the sport of golf. One could dress from head to toe in NIKE Golf gear, underwear included. Consumers aren’t limited to golf however, for almost any sport you play, you could dress from head to toe in Nike apparel.
