Hysteria
Hysteria is the other film we have been watching. The film is directed by Tanya Wexler, and was released in 2011. The film is from the end of 1880 and the film shows the invention of the vibrator. Dr. Mortimer is a young physician that gives constant arguments for modern medicine. He did for example know that bacteria’s would multiply the illness. The other doctors did not think this was true. They did not think that if you washed your hands before eating, you would lessen the chance of disease. Dr. Mortimer was fired from his job because he wanted medicine that was more modern. So then, he got a new job assisting Dr. Dalrymple, who practiced treatment of “hysteria” a popular diagnosis for women at the time. Female hysteria was a medical diagnosis they gave women they meant were hard to deal with. Dr. Dalrymple had two daughters Emily and her older sister Charlotte. Emily is a girl who does exactly what she was told, and at that time that was the only acceptable way to behave for a women. Charlotte on the other hand is the exact opposite of Emily; she runs a settlement house in a poor section of London. She is kind and help others. She also does what she want and do not let anyone boss over her, she is a modern feminist. She believe that hysteria is not a real …show more content…

Great expectations is written by Charles Dickens in 1860. The novel is about an orphan named Pip, he lives with his older sister Mrs. Joe Gargery. She is mean and bossy, but luckily, for Pip his sister is married to Mr. Joe Gargery. He is very nice and kind to Pip, and they are sort of best friends. The novel starts with Pip being on the graveyard, visiting his parents. Then he meets an escaped convict called Abel Magwitch. He threatens to kill Pip unless he brings him food and a file. Then Pip have to steal food from his sister and she gets mad. Pip delivers the food and return home,
