Throughout The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, although the title of the story bears the name of Gatsby, we hear the story from Nick Carraway, making him the most important character in the story, through his growth, his beliefs and opinions, and his relationships. F. Scott Fitzgerald puts Nick Carraway in the center of the story, rather than Gatsby, through Nick’s narration of the story. Nick grows to understand the people around him more, and grows in his narration. Because he is constantly around people, he comes to understand them more and he comes to ‘mature’ over the course of the story. When we first are introduced to Nick, we see some advice that he got from his father a long time ago.
The Great Gatsby is told from the point of view of Nick, a businessman, who lives next door to Gatsby’s residence. Gatsby throws extravagant parties and becomes a friend to Nick, who soon finds himself caught amidst interwoven conflicts in relationships. His cousin, Daisy is torn between her cheating husband, Tom, and her past love, Gatsby.
Great Gatsby is a new book to me. I have not read or watch any versions of this book, so this is my first time reading this book. I had completed Chapter 1 of the book, and this chapter makes me feels bored. Nick just talk about how his school life is and what had happen with him during his college years.

Gatsby lost the women he loved, Nick got so caught up with drama with everyone he knew, he ended up as unhappy as the rest. Everyone used Nick at least once, or gave him something to doubt. People used everyone and no one noticed. “If you want anything just ask for it old sport,” (Fitzgerald 48) Gatsby was trying to create a friendship with Nick, only to later on use him as bait to get closer to Daisy, who Gatsby believed loved him. But in the end nothing really comes the way he wanted, proven when Daisy admits she loved Gatsby but not the way when they were young.
At the first party Nick goes to, one of the girls he meets says a rumor about Gatsby: “Somebody told me they thought he killed a man once” (48). This immediately brings into question the kind of man Gatsby is. Even though this is a rumor, the fact that it has been spread around shows how these people, most of whom don’t know Gatsby personally, don’t view him as the perfect man that Nick does. Rather, they view him as a mysterious enigma of a man with a cloudy past with potentially morally wrong actions. These judgemental guests even go as far as to question his loyalty to America by claiming he was a German spy during the war.
In the book ' ' The Great Gatsby ' ' Nick is caught up in Gatsby`s life. Either by the fact that he lives next door to him or that he is interested in Gatsby`s lifestyle. Nick has this high opinion of Gatsby in a way that his life is tangled up in Gatsby`s life. Making it hard to not be interested in Gatsby`s past and present, but its the way he makes everyone feel is why Nick has this high opinion.
