The date is August 28, 1963. In front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, Martin Luther King Jr. gave one of the most impactful speeches for freedom to date. The speech known as “I have a dream”, was one of the greatest moments of the Civil Rights Movement. The delivery of his speech was powerful in that it reminded Americans that all men should be treated equal for this was the promise of democracy for civil rights for all Americans. The minister that he was spoke passionately about his dream to end segregation peacefully without violence giving people of color hope.
