In the book To Kill a Mockingbird colored people were not expected in their culture. And colored people in that community were looked frowned upon by non-colored people. A man named Tom Robison was a very hard-working man but he was colored for that he was pin-pointed by a man named Bob Ellew who raped his daughter and balmed it on Tom. Tom was not looked at the same from his falsely accused accusations were not socially acceptable in his community. With the falsely accused accusation that was placed it was hard for Tom and his lawyer Atticus Finch to win the case. Tom was not looked at the same in court because he was a colored man and in his society, it was not expected for a colored man to win. In Atticus last statement he said, “Which, gentlemen, we know is in itself a lie as black as Tom Robinson’s skin, a lie I don't not have to point out to you. And sometimes Tom was asked by Mayella if he would help her with some chores. He would always help her since he felt sorry for her. One day she had asked him to come inside and look at this door. When he was looking at the door he realized there was nothing wrong and told Mayella that and said that he best be going. Right as he was about to leave, “She reached up and an’ kissed me ‘side of th’ face. She says she never kissed a grown man before an’ she might as will kiss an colored man” I said Miss Mayella lemme outa her an’ tried to run but she got her back to the door an’ i’da had to push her. Mr. Ewell “He says you god damn whore, I’ll kill ya.” to which Tom ran as fast ashe could and Bob went inside and beat up Mayell then went to an officer and said that Tom Robison had raped his daughter Mayella
