Racism can led to many problems these problems don’t need to be looked upon negatively even though racism is not a good way to handle problems this can bee seen in the book I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. For example the church let the black community feel proud of how they were and let them not give up. Additionally it held the community together and show how important the revival meeting was. Also it let the black community to practice religion. This book starts off by their parents get divorced at they are sent to Stamps Arkansas. Maya (Marguerite) had a brother Jr. Bailey grew up in the south they both were black. The time they had grown up there was no respect for black people they were “labors and they picked cotton.” They most important and inspiring thing for these communities’ was the church. Throughout the book there were several difficulties Marguerite had faced one problem was that she was raped when she was they age of eight. Another major problem she had was that she moved to different parts of the country this was a problem because she had no official parents. The church was the most important and the closest subject for the black community.

“If there is going to be hope and a hope of wholeness, is the unshaking need for an unshakable God.” First this tells us that god is the only one that can change your life and increase your hopes. Also it says that god is unshakable this means that god will not look for the bad for us he will always look out for us not matter what. Another of practice of religion would be Momma. Momma taught the children to “respect and love” the gods and whenever the children did something that did not follow the maners then they were beat up.
