Due to the ageing population more medical professionals are in demand to meet the needs of each individual, I believe that by studying a radiography course I can be part of the professionals who are making a difference in someone's life. Diagnostic and therapeutic radiography can transform a person’s life by getting the correct diagnosis and then treatment as quickly as possible to get the individual back on their feet. By becoming a radiographer I can be a part of the modern advancements in this field and have opportunities in research and teaching. My interest in radiography began during my Science diploma. I completed a module involving medical physics and I also learned more about the physiology of human body which is very important in radiography as it covers many aspects over the human body. In medical physics I learnt about MRI scanning which involves radio waves and a magnetic field to get images of the human body. I found this fascinating, which then sparked my interest to find out more about radiography. The science diploma has introduced me to topics relevant to radiography such as anatomy, physiology and some practical experiments. The diploma is entirely coursework based so I have regular deadlines and my time management skills are good as I hand in all my work on time. The course …show more content…
The radiographers were very enthusiastic and helpful in answering my questions and I was convinced this was the degree for me. I have seen how an illness impacts on a person's quality of life and the role that a radiographer plays in diagnosing and managing. They are part of a team with other health professionals in treating the patient and the radiographer’s role is important in correctly getting the ultrasound/X-ray/CT/MRI scan to help the team reach the best management decision for the patient. I saw how a MRI and CT scanners worked and also saw general X-rays being carried
