My practicum experiences thus far have been great. One of practicum experiences was that I attended an ISCU (Intensive Special Care Unit) course that was taught by my preceptor, Kim Irvin. The course provided some evidenced-based practice for the ISCU nurses on how to interact with the ISCU parents. After graduating, I really hope to be able to participate in a program similar to this because it seems to very beneficial. Another practicum experience was that I had an opportunity to shadow a pediatric nurse and an ISCU nurse. While I was in the pediatric unit, I was able to take vital signs and help with discharge education. In addition, I was able to observe a patient receiving a transfusion and how the staff nurse interact with the pediatric patients. While I was in the ISCU unit, I saw a lot of neonates who were in critical conditions. It was difficult to see all the machine that they are connected to. During this experience, I was able to feed a neonate who was born at 30 weeks. I was extremely careful because he was only 3.5 pounds. Overall, I learned a lot in my practicum experiences and really thankful for all these
