As a child, I was never aware of my family’s financial struggles. My parents divorced when I was 12 and money became the central issue in my life. I found myself worrying about mortgages, health bills, and grocery money at a very young age. As I continued to grow, I vowed to myself that I would not struggle financially the way my parents had to. I want to escape the socioeconomic status I was born into, which is why I am pursuing a post-secondary education. I’m currently a physical education major with an emphasis in exercise science. I found my passion for this field in my high school sports medicine program. I was a member of the First Year Involvement Program here at ISU. I am also an Emissary for the College of Education and a Peer Academic Coach to help mentor first year students and provide assistance to students put on academic probation. My ultimate educational goal is to attend graduate school and achieve my doctorate in physical therapy with an emphasis in sport rehabilitation. I have always had a passion for being physically active and helping others. I have strong volunteer experience with organizations like the Idaho Humane Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Idaho and the Episcopal Diocese of Idaho. I feel such a reward helping those in need, and I want to help people both physically and emotionally. Physical therapy is my ideal career because it fuels my passion for physical activity, but will allow me to have strong interpersonal relationships with my patients. I plan to graduate in the Fall of 2017. I have already planned my class schedule for the upcoming semesters to ensure I will graduate in a timely
