Any piece of artifact has a meaning, a story, and a message. Artifacts can be interpreted and perceived in unique ways by different individuals. With many different personalized translations of an artifact, contremps are likely to happen. In the film Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, the story warns children about the impending horrors of climate change and extinction. However, others could say that the film brings the controversy that climate change is not caused by humans.

Climate change is a long-term shift in temperature and weather all around the earth. Some may argue that since Earth gradually warms up over time, climate change is expected to happen. This film takes place 20,000 years ago, which is much earlier than the industrial revolution. Therefore, the film portrays the existence of global warming years before humans and depicts it as a natural cause. On the other hand, there is a major controversy that humans are a major contributing cause of climate change. Although climate change is expected to happen, the rate at which climate change is arising is unexpected. Climate change is significantly accelerating due to human lifestyle and activities that results in the heat-trapping gasses to accumulate in the atmosphere. With the increase in heat weather changes and sea levels rising, it negatively affects housing, farming, health, and work enviroments. This can influence our living conditions and more so, if the climate continues to heighten to dangerous levels or creates an environment that is unsurvivable, extinction to human life will
