Identify a career area you might be interested in pursuing. Working in an education setting is always my dream and very rewarding. My current position and previous positions are all in community colleges, and I love it. I am surrounded by educated people and people who want to learn. I feel that I can learn something new every day and the working environment motivate me to continue enhancing my knowledge. However, I am interested in pursuing a career as a Career and Academic Navigator in a higher education setting, a different position than I am currently working. I feel that academic and career plannings are a package and navigator should be looking at both when assisting students. That way students ready for employment that related to their career interest and academically prepared for that while in school. Seeing many students confused and frustrated because what their career interest and academic plan do not fit well make me feel sad. As well as, we as staff members of higher education are not doing our job well if students do not accomplish what they came to school for. Therefore, combination of two positions into one and assisting students from start to finish as well as place them on a career path and send them off with fully prepare employment plan. To be a career and academic navigator, I need to know more information about different types of career and academic programs offer at the school.
