1. Introduction

This essay will identify and evaluate my use of sources in which I gained information towards my project for independent study. Additionally, this evaluation will justify my chosen methodology and the research that I endeavored in to ensure my product was viable and could run successfully and officially.

My idea for my chosen product/service originated from the demand for live music from customers such as; engaged couples, business’ and the general public. My research into running my business similarly focused on how my business could keep up with the current market. This resulting in findings such as; marketing techniques, color psychology, diversification and growth, target audiences and price ranges.

My business The Velvet Band, is currently a four-piece function, wedding, and corporate band based in the West Midlands - in which will grow into a network/agency for musicians in the West Midlands looking for live music work. Moreover, the number of musicians who are employed by ‘The Velvet Band’, will determine how many ‘sister bands’ will be formed. My intention within researching this topic was to influence customers whilst viewing our business’ website to book us. Using sources such as (Carmichael, 2010), helped me to design the website through a series of proven studies regarding the colour’s black and gold. Typically, our audience remains around business owners, and engaged couples looking for their wedding day live music. Due to this, I wanted to form a sense of class on the website. I wanted to portray a sense of professionalism and expensiveness – as people love to buy luxury items to make them feel good about themselves (Page, 2017). This is what our service aims to provide for customers therefore, this is what I intended to portray on the website (Appendix
