Three English Boys Who Loses Their Identity “ I was choosing a place’ said Jack. ‘I was just waiting for a moment to decide where to stab him.” (Golding 29) This book is known as Lord of the Flies written by William Golding. Parents teach children, to treat others the way they would want to be treated, and at times they forget. But if no one points it out, what they did wrong and no one stops it, it is not going to get better. Jack is an example of how he did not care about anyones feeling but his own, and he feels no remorse of hurting anyones feelings, because of his mask. People teach children at a very young age to remember who they are, like names and addresses, so if they forget who they are and where they are from they, they can still remember who they are . Percival is one child who forgets who he is and where he is from. When children are little they do not know right from wrong, but once they get older they become more aware. He use his new power that Ralph has given him for hunting. Jack began hunting, and at times felt that he, himself is being hunted. At this point he became afraid, and decides to put on a brave face; by putting pigs blood and mud on his face, so he would not have any remorse when he hurt anyone or anything. “… But you can feel as if you’re not hunting, but-being hunted; as if some-thing’s behind you all the time in the jungle.” (Golding 53) This means he could not hurt anyone and still look at himself in the mirror and see himself as innocent. Therefore, with the mask, he could hide who he really is, and he didn’t need to fear himself. “The rest are making a line. Come on!” ‘But-’ ‘We-’ ‘Come on!
