She uses satirical description of her feelings , by allowing reader to see that she also felt sympathy for herself. Although Mairs, evokes empathy when telling her story, her sympathetic response toward her illness shows that she felt disconnected with her illness and that she did not have nothing else than to take what her destiny brought her. Are you who you are because of individuality, or because of someone else? Truth is, the answer can be either one. The Marrian Webster Dictionary goes on to define identity as “who someone is”, but there is much more to it. Identity works in many ways. For my definition of identity, I believe that identity is how you present yourself to society.
Jaharutul Fariah Identity is a word that we all find it difficult to define unlike any other words in a dictionary because it’s indescribable. We all define it differently according to what we think is right and it continuously changes as we progress. As stated by Tila Tequila, “every person has their own identity and beauty. Everyone being different is what is really beautiful. If we were all the same, it would be boring.”
When it comes to the very fabric of how individuals act and think, there are many different reasons that can explain the many aspects of what a human does. In terms of identities, it can be considered to be not only their personality, but also their maturity as well as their experiences and how those affect them. An identity is not set in stone either, although it is capable of straying off the path slightly, and can be adjusted to meet the requirements of others, whether voluntarily or not. An identity can be molded from many different types of environments, for example through nature or through nurture. Even though many people can go through the same types of influences that are designed to make everyone equal, there is no such thing.
People always suggest others to be themselves. To not care about what others have to say about you. People try to ignore society 's opinion about them, not realizing the importance it plays in identity. For a person to feel identified, they must have similarities or differences, and some type of involvement. Identity involves a combination of how you see yourself and how others see you.
Your identity are the qualities, beliefs, personality, looks and/or expressions that make you who you are. Your identity helps you find your destiny in life. Without the knowledge of your identity your life will be incomplete. Every person in the world has a different identity. Everyone also has a different understanding of who and how they came to be the person they are today. I believe that individuals are free to shape their own identities to the extent that they change the paths given to them. A person can be raised one way and change their opinions along the way based on different things they see and learn. While a person has their own identity, they gained that identity from experiences influenced by others.
Human beings come in all shapes and sizes and that is no different regarding their identities and personalities. To what extent are we human beings free to shape our own identities? Many different factors decide a person's identity, some let their wealth or status create their identities for them, while others don't let anything affect their end goal. With these factors known, it can be seen that people's identities affect how people think and treat others which I believe is another factor for someone to shape their identity in a certain way. In the book A Streetcar Named Desire and the poem A Daily Joy To Be Alive, there are elements of identity, and in both, you can see how different people can shape their identity to what they want.
Identity is something people tend to think of as consistent, however that is far from the case. The Oxford English dictionary states that the definition of identity is “ The characteristics determining who or what a person or thing is.” The allegorical novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding tackles the issue of identity while following young boys from the ages twelve and down as they struggle with remembering their identities when trapped on a deserted island. Identity is affected by the influence of society and how individuals influence society based on their identities. By looking at Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the Stanford Prison Experiment, and Sigmund Freud 's philosophical ideas, it becomes clear that identity is affected by society through peer pressure and social normalities.
Explanation: The identity of each person mostly comes from what he or she experience. When a variety of people witnesses the same event, they may experience that event differently. Some people are unable to develop their “self “completely. This is the case for those that are unable to experience events that others may have experienced because of the society in which they live. They create their identity based on what they have experienced under those limitations.
For an individual to shape their identity, comes an extent to their freedom when doing such actions to develop said identity. Individuals have complete freedom to their own identity but there are restrictions to this factor. Understanding Identity means figuring out and understanding your values and establishing what certain things make you, you. Understanding this is the base for all paths that will help form and shape who you are at the end and who you want to be because it is an independent identity meaning it is you.
