The horrible acts of the Salem witch trials were a product of ignorance negligence. The town was filled with corrupt people that had personal vendettas against each other, creating tension in the town. To make matters worse, the prospect of witches was introduced to the town. This increased tension between people as more and more people were accused of witchcraft for sending out their “spirits” against the so-called “victim.” The ignorance of the people led to the “landblasting” of many innocent people that were accused as witches. Respected people such as Rebecca Nurse were hung with the accusation of witchcraft, and due to the nature of the crime, they were unable to either prove or disprove it, so she was put to death at the …show more content…

From the very beginning she was up to no good; drinking chicken blood, dancing naked in the forest, and just acting insane. She was absolutely crazy over the farmer John Proctor. She had previously had a relationship with John, but was kicked out by Elizabeth Proctor, John’s wife, because she had a hunch that he fancied her. Ever since then, Abigail has hated Elizabeth and has always wanted John back, so she took drastic measures. She accused Elizabeth of witchcraft, saying that she sent her spirit out and stabbed her. Shortly after this, an investigator came to the Proctor’s home and found a poppet with a needle stuck in the side where Abigail had been stabbed, so witchcraft was immediately called. She took this issue to a completely different level, accusing woman after woman of witchcraft. Soon, people started becoming skeptic of the constant hangings of what they thought were respected women. Abigail could now be classified as a murderer, and her right hand was judge Danforth, an ignorant old man with the brain activity of a mosquito. Together, they killed many innocent people just because Danforth believed everything Abigail said. He was intolerant of anything other than what he called the “truth,” which was actually nothing more than a lie to save someone’s life at the cost of their honesty. He believed the young girls that danced in the forest during a ritual instead of someone who had helped the town their entire life. Mistakenly, he later takes a liking to Abigail, almost trusting her every word. When he is faced with the question of why these people do not receive lawyers, he responds with an answer that could only be formulated by someone who thinks everyone will always tell the truth. However, we already know that these girls are extremely good liars, so they all come up with quick responses about certain questions. Danforth, being the imbecile he is, believes these trouble-making girls over the respected members of the community, causing turmoil and skepticism among the society of
