Chapter 16 from the book Mexican Migrants by Hellman talks about how he started seeing life differently when he met Francisco. When he met Francisco he noticed he was a very reserved man. He believed that the actions immigrants do reflect on everyone, for example if they see immigrants being criminals now everyone will think everyone is like that. I agree with Francisco because some people might meet the wrong and bad Mexican immigrants and will judge everyone out of one person, then later this becomes hard to make that person believe that not everyone is like the first person he encounter with. But either way undocumented immigrants risk it all just so their family can move forward in life. They live in fear but they never give up . Many people have a bad image of undocumented immigrants , but they are actually really hard workers . They work hard for what they want , and they get the things they have by their own sweat . Just imagine leaving everything behind to go to a better place to start a new life.
Willis Tower, The Bean, street food, Lollapalooza are common thoughts fleeting through one's mind when they hear, "Chicago. " As opposed to millennials and my peers, I have a different perspective on Chicago. My parents experienced a rough time dealing with several complicated immigration places. Seeing that at the time Chicago was considered a "safe city" for illegal immigrants, my family uprooted themselves to Chicago. It was a city where there were thousands of other people in our situation, a big difference from my hometown, Dublin, Ohio.
Many have heard of the American Dream. It is the idea by which freedom means that one is afforded the opportunity for prosperity and success reached by hard work in a culture with few barriers. People from all over the world aspire to come to America and live this dream, the American Dream. Millions of immigrants legally enter this county in pursuit of the aforementioned dream; however, each year half a million immigrants enter this country unlawfully (Immigration Reform. 2006. P5).
New Americans come to the United States to experience the land of opportunity and hopefully live a better life than in their homeland. Immigrants come here for something known as the “five freedoms” (“Destination America”). These freedoms consist of the freedom to worship, freedom from oppression, freedom from want, freedom from fear and freedom to create. They want to be able to choose how to live and not be punished in the process.
Not all undocumented Latino immigrants who try to migrate can make it to the United States (Cammisa, 2009). Some of them do not make it because they die due to all the conditions they experience, and only their bodies are found. Also, the undocumented Latino immigrants that get caught by the authorities and are sent to detention centers where they receive first aid, and then are deported back to their homeland countries (United States. Department of Homeland Security. Office of Inspector General. 2011).
Immigration in through Texas has always been at a high number, do too the border of Mexico touching Texas. However, the rate of illegal immigrants has increased drastically over the past couple of years. Studies performed by the Federation for American Reform (FAIR), shows that between 2010 and 2013 the number of illegal immigrants has increased by 70,000. With the rate of illegal immigrants, increasing at this rate, the taxpaying citizens, are taking a major hit. Illegal Immigration doesn’t seem like it would cause a major issue because they do make up 8.9 percent of the state’s labor force, based on the studies of the Pew Research Center.
Donald Trump and his issue with illegal Immigrants. After reading many articles discussing the situation between Donald Trump and the 11 million immigrants in America and trying to understand both sides of this issue, I strongly believe Trump and his insane idea will not be successful. Donald Trump is planning to deport all illegal Immigrants and their children from the United States if he becomes President. He is planning on taking away Birthright citizenship from millions of people who were born in the U.S. from Immigrant parents.
When a person fail to appear in court, a judge can issue a bench warrant for their arrest. With the bench warrant law enforcement can make an arrest and take the person into custody anytime. Law enforcement can also actively seek to execute the warrant at a person home or work place. Unfortunately, if they are released with a citation, fingerprints or photo (mugshot) are not taken. However, everyone that’s booked/arrested into county jail has there photo (mugshot) taken, and fingerprints.
In the United States, there are approximately 11 million undocumented immigrants and most of them don 't have a driver’s license(Passel and Cohn). Because the DMV failure to issue driver’s license, it is hurting the undocumented population and is just adding more problems around the country. The undocumented population has been really affected by this failure of issuing the driver’s license towards them. By having the problem of issuing of driver’s license towards immigrants, a great deal of undocumented immigrants have problems they need to go through.
The general public believes that most of the crimes in the United States are committed by illegal immigrants. This is a mistaken bias because in the reality there are other groups of people that commit crimes. Amnesty would help to cut down crime by giving authorities database to access to each identity of the current illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants who do not obey the laws can be easily identified.
Good evening ladies and gentlemen, before I deliver my words to you, I would like to say that it is a truly honor to be given the privilege to speak not only for my community, but for the Hispanic community as a whole. Once again, thank you for welcoming me to this meeting. As some of you may or may not know there has been an innumerable amount of controversy involving the Hispanic community in the past decade. As a representative of my community I would like to address our fears and concerns before you. Consequently, following former president Barack Obama the statistics pertaining to deportation of Hispanic immigrants have drastically increased.
Lesson 9 1. Puerto Ricans immigrants are often portrayed as poor, lazy and scandalous individuals by Anglo Americans. At times, Puerto Ricans are not allowed to live up to their fullest potential because they are already labeled as impoverished people; stereotypes do not let Puerto Ricans rise to their fullest abilities because they often feel trapped by the welfare rumors. Thus, whenever the dominant white people think of the minorities they will always see the negative side of their labels as opposed to what they are fully capable of. 2.
Undocumented children feel abandoned by their parents after their departure. The children feel remorse of the parent’s actions. The children do not understand the risk that their parents made. After divorce, American parents behave just like undocumented immigrants in the way of abandoning their children for their new families. Similarly, Americans should realize that these undocumented immigrants come to the United States to help their families back in their original homes.
