In the short story “Flowers” by Alice Walker, the reader can analyze that their is a deeper meaning to it. Myop is the main character and is portrayed as a very happy and innocent child. The author portrays the changes of Myop through imagery and symbol, also along the story she prepares the reader to understand the ending. One element used in the short story is imagery. For example, when Myop enters a strangeness in the land she is in the phrase “ it seemed gloomy in the cove”, which gives the impression that something strange may occur to Myop for being in this unknown land. Furthermore, as she starts to explore around, she finds herself looking at a dead body which is described as “tall man”, who had “teeth that were cracked or broken”,
