In the Odyssey by Homer, numerous images are portrayed through the text. One of many examples include the stool thrown at beggar Odysseus. Homer uses this image as an example of condescending and impolite behavior. After begging for food from the wealthy at the palace, Antinoos rudely throws a stool at Odysseus. While other seem polite and humble, Antinoos refuses to feed him and instead abuses him. Odysseus reveals Antinoos’ condescending attitude. Soon, however, the other guests begin to taunt and abuse Odysseus even more, revealing their arrogant behavior.
