Our society would not be what it is today if it wasn't for the three French philosophers for the individual freedom, freedom in government, religion, economy, and gender equality. John Locke, Voltaire, and Adam Smith were four of the many great philosophers, who changed our society and the shaped the capitalistic democratic world that we live in today. These philosophers lived in a time of bright and amazing new ideas, known as the Age of Enlightenment or the Age of Reason. Here are the main ideas of Enlightenment. John Locke (1632-1704) was one of the three main French philosophers.

The Enlightenment Period consisted of philosophers that advocated for political, social, and economic changes. The enlightenment thinkers motivated the revolutions of the 18 and 19th century by promoting Equal rights of Man and by preaching that governments should be managed by branches instead of a monarch. One of the most influential revolutions was the American revolution whereas the American colonists were fed up with the British and declared independence from them.
I believe that the Enlightenment Thinkers would have the most impact on future governments because. Voltaire believed in freedom of thought, freedom of religion, and freedom of expression. Locke believed in natural rights, including life, liberty, and owning property. Montesquieu believed that one person should not have power.
During the Enlightenment new ideas were created that greatly impacted society. The new ideas created during the Enlightenment impacted society so much that many of the ideas were utilized when forming the government of the United States. Three European men Montesquieu, Voltaire, and Rousseau each had their own unique views of what would be best for society. Each philosopher had ideas that would make today 's society more ideal and with hard work are possible to achieve.
The first way the enlightenment ideas influenced the United States Government was when the Declaration of Independence was written. The Declaration of Independence has the main task of basically protecting our natural rights. The natural rights idea came from Locke and was later transformed into the Declaration of Independence. Natural rights are basically Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. The second main idea that influenced our U.S Government to me is the federal system.
In her document she claims that, “Women must be allowed to found their virtue on knowledge, which is scarcely possible unless they be educated by the same pursuits as men”(Wollstonecraft, On National Education). Wollstonecraft dynamically argued that if women had the right to study, they’d be able to prove they aren’t inferior by ignorance and low desires. Despite the fact that these four philosophers had contrasting ideas on how to enhance daily life, they all concentrated the same central idea. They each contributed something unique to their society, which has influenced our daily

The Enlightenment was crucial in determining aspects in terms of politics, government, and religion. Enlightenment thinkers such as John Locke, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, and Charles Montesquieu influenced the Founding Fathers and their ideas were found in the Declaration of Independence. The most important influence that shaped the founding of the United States came from John Locke, an Englishmen who redefined the nature of government.
Above all, the Enlightenment played crucial role in educating people in the American societies. Although the Enlightenment initially started in Europe, it was prevalent out to America. The definition of Enlightenment means to “reimbursement or clearing up” and it is a very helpful term since it assists to give proper information about what the Enlightenment is and what they tried to fulfill that time. Furthermore, the Enlightenment had hugely impacted on the American Revolution. The most well known Enlightenment theorists in America were Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson, I think.
Mary Wollstonecraft was an advocate for women's rights and a writer. She was also the founder of movements and the rights of women. Mary conveyed and spoke out in her published books about injustice and the right to be equal in economics, education, and politics. She like many others during the 17th century spoke up for a greater future in France. Similar to John Locke who was also a philosopher that wanted the idea of a government that protected a person's natural rights including life, liberty, and property.
Instead these women should be educated in the same way as men and have the same expectations as men in their civil and work duties and then they will no longer be put in the situations where they are helpless if the man leaves or dies. Mary Wollstonecraft explains how women should be included in tasks that are not small, and that they should not be included in tasks that men think are beneath them. The following quote from Wollstonecraft exemplifies how women were treated during her time: "The few employments open to women, so far from being liberal, are menial; and when a superior education enables them to take charge of the education of children as governesses, they are not treated like the
I believe the Enlightenment was a good thing for the following reasons, including advancing sciences and technology, opening the doors to education opportunities, developments in the political realm, changes in literature and expanding the minds of people to think for themselves and develop their own opinions. Wollstonecraft proclaimed that education should be free and equal for both men and women. Her beliefs are very similar to what public education is like today. She felt that men and women should be considered equal among many aspects, like education. To her, females were just as capable to go to school and get an education as men were, and that the idea of a baby being strapped to her waist should not deter her from her dreams.
