Why Snoop Dogg Has a Positive Impact on Youth
A man who donated millions to charities, has founded programs for youth, and became successful coming from a place where success is not always a common product/outcome is considered by many to have a negative impact on youth. This man is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., otherwise known as the rapper Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg was born in Long Beach, California, a suburb of west LA on October 20, 1971. Calvin received the nickname “Snoop Dogg” from his mother since she thought he looked like Snoopy from Charlie Brown, and it stuck. He sang and played piano in a church choir prior to when he started rapping in the sixth grade. After graduating from high school, Snoop Dogg was arrested for drug possession and spent time in prison. He was also associated with a gang, the Rollin’ 20 Crips Gang. He used music as a way out of his troubles, and recorded demo songs with his friend, Warren G, and cousin, Nate Dogg, as the group 213. His tracks caught attention from Dr. Dre, who then reached out to collaborate with him. His rap career took off from there. Later he appeared in a number of movies and TV shows (as well as making soundtracks for many movies). Snoop Dogg is now a father of four, still an actor and singer, an owner/founder of a plethora of companies and youth programs, and a major public figure. Snoop Dogg has a positive impact on youth because he is involved in numerous charities, he founded his own football league for inner city youth,
