Around the world, millions of commuters, tourists and students rely on public transit service to aid them in their daily commute. Among all the available services, LRT (light rail transit) stand out as it deliver fast, frequent and reliable services and provide a comfortable and safe journey for individuals. Thus, the proposal of expanding the LRT infrastructure within Elkhead seems to provide the best solution for the city’s current transportation problems. Accessibility to fast and affordable means of commute will mean higher property value for prospective buyers; meaning the appeal of living further away from city central will increase. Therefore, lessening the stress of morning and afternoon rush in city traffic. Which would mean safer (possibly less accidents) and more manageable roads conditions for law enforcement and medical personal during peak hours. A well planned LRT infrastructure will be able to easily afford itself within only years of establishment. The ability to attract new ridership will expand the source of income and help fund the daily operation of the system, while still sustaining capital for upgrading in the future as demand for services shift. Meaning the hesitance of the allocating capital for the purpose of expansion now will be unjustified concern. LRT also has great impact on employment and lifestyle of a city. The strategies to attract culturally diverse and creative workforce will be a key component in the future economic development of Elkhead.
