How does level of achievement gap in early stages of education correlate with skill? The education gap exists between countries as well as within countries. It is also referred to as the achievement gap when addressing it within a country. A report published in 2009 showed that achievement in as early as 4th grade in the US had a direct impact on how skilled a worker was and hence their income. The achievement gap also effects individual outcomes. There is a strong link between early achievement in school and subsequent rates of high school graduation, college attendance and completion, and finally earnings.

There are countless solutions trying to solve the issue from different angles. However, choosing the right combination of solutions so they don’t come in each others’ way is key. One such solution could be to increase funding of non-profit NGOs. The problem is too big for just one group to tackle, however, there are several NGOs in man countries and funding them is another way of delegating the tasks at hand. A solution to tackle the domestic education gap could be to increase funding to public schools. The education gap in many countries arises when the private schools have a higher standard then public schools. However, not everyone can afford the private schools and thus a educational gap is created. The rich can afford to send their kids to private schools while the poor can’t. To tackle the skills gap, a plausible solution would be to have third party organisations, funded by the government, to train people for specific jobs and get them the skills required, from social skills to technical skills. The target for these organisation could be fresh college graduates who lack real world experience. These organisations will also be very useful is retraining current employees to keep up the new times and technology so the firms don’t make them
