Achieving the American Dream
Is every individual successful and content in America? Do you consider yourself living the “American Dream”? There are so many people out in the world that are so completely and utterly behind today that they may never catch up and be 100% satisfied. Too many people in the United States are struggling today. It is said that one person can change the world. I don’t think that is an accurate statement nowadays, but I do believe that a group of people working together to solve a problem or problems is possible.
It’s unfortunate that our civilization is being separated in to groups based on their income. Instead of people being discriminated based on their color, their discriminated based on their cash flow. For example, every date that occurs on movies one will ask, “What do you do for a living?” This typically is a make it or break it kind of question. But why? Reason being, many prefer to surround themselves with successful individuals. As you can see the world isn’t equal. Poverty is a growing concern in the U.S. Comparing today and a decade ago you will see a large increase in the poverty rate. 10 years ago it was at 12.6%, today it is at 15%, that’s 46 million Americans. “There should exist among the citizens neither extreme poverty nor again excessive wealth, for both are productive of great evil.” - Plato.

It has jumped from $75,463,476.52 in 1791 to the current amount of $18,618,344,096,338.38. This means each citizen must pay $57,866.14. Our debt is not going down it just builds up increasing the later generations debt. There are many ways we can lower this overwhelming debt. The exceedingly wealthy high class people who are making $150,000+ should be taxed more while the less wealthy should have a decline in their tax.
