702321504 PRT Essay When faced with adversity, the will to fight back is a courageous characteristic that is quite natural for certain individuals. As human beings we face obstacles on a daily basis. They are not necessarily life changing problems that will forever affect us however there is always some challenge waiting just around the corner. Everyone’s reaction to a challenging situation varies and is different and unique to them personally. Pai from the film Whale Rider by Lisa Gerrard has a very strong and passionate reaction despite the fact that she is constantly being brought down by her grandfather. I personally often feel overlooked by my family as well which helps me relate to Pai. This leads me to believe that one’s reactions to adversity is very strongly influenced by the people surrounding them and their opinions. Whether or not they make us stronger or not really depends on the person and their willingness to ignore what other people think. Lisa Gerrard's Film Whale Rider demonstrates perfectly that certain people like Pai are naturally courageous and prosper despite the negativity of the people surrounding them. My life experience, on the other hand has proven to me that I must work hard to not let other people dim my voice.
