o Why is it important for every profession to have a Code of Ethics?
It is important for every profession to have a code of ethics because it maintains a certain level of decency in regards to human treatment. It provides guidance for healthcare professionals to use in their practice and conduct. The Code of ethics aims to follow two fundamental principles, one of which is to practice with honesty, integrity, and fairness. The second principle states they should report violations of the Code of Ethics and promote high standards in their practice in the best interest of the clients, public, and the profession itself. The Code of ethics has a total of 19 principles that help to develop a system that is very public-oriented.

o The Code of Ethics was last updated in 2009. In your opinion, what should be updated in the upcoming revision and why?
In my opinion I believe that currently, the Code of Ethics is adequate. Healthcare professionals have strengthened the credibility of the Code of Ethics by bringing attention to violations and influencing implementation of the code whenever applicable. I think it would be a little difficult to deal with angry people when it comes to ethics, which is why I think requiring a written and mailed letter is appropriate. This gives the ethics professional what he or she needs in order to assess what has happened. However, I do think it would be a good idea to have a phone number to call and gives details to because I feel it would help give the public knowledge on what is within reason, and what is considered a violation.
