This freedom day weekend is the 23rd Anniversary of South African democracy. 27 April marks the first vote by Former president Nelson Mandela at a High school in Inanda Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Constitutional Hill -27 April (Freedom Day)
Built on the notorious old Fort Prison Constitutional Hill is home to the country 's celebrated Constitutional Court. Situated in the heart of Johannesburg next to Braamfontein it is a great place that gets both the young and the old, educated on the significance of the place. This place holds the history of prominent activists and freedom fighters (among them Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela) being imprisoned there.

The Fact that the Brickwork from the prison was used in the construction of the court adds a special touch and indicates the scarifies made for democracy, serving as a reminder of the sacrifices that were made for democracy.
