INTRODUCTION Indonesia is a big country which consists of many islands. In each island, there live many tribes of Indonesia. There are hundreds traditional tribes which have their own culture and language. Even in one island, the language can be various and different from one region with another. The language of each tribe in each region is preserved by its speakers. In Indonesia, along with those regional languages, there is Indonesian language which is agreed to be the national and official language in Indonesia. This tribe inhabits a small island in the east side of Java Island. This tribe is named after the island they live in, Madura. Although Madura Island is small, the population of Madurese tribe is big. Madurese is known as a tribe which people are fond of immigrating to other regions in Indonesia. They immigrate to almost every island in Indonesia. Their purpose is to increase their quality of life such as getting better education and getting better occupation. Madura Island is close to Javanese Island which makes many Madurese people immigrate there. Surabaya, east Java is the most immigration’s destination of Madurese people. Many immigrants from Madura come to Surabaya to finish their study especially in University because there are many Universities in Surabaya which become many students’ choice from other regions to continue their study. One university in Surabaya which is one of the Madurese people’s consideration to continue their study is UNESA. In UNESA, especially in English Department, there are many students who come from Madura. In Surabaya, Madurese people should be able to adapt their language with Surabaya
