Legacy is a very inspiring article. The article is an easy read with very thought-provoking statements. “Legacy” makes us take into account ourselves. Sometimes, as humans do, we get caught up in the accumulation of material possessions. Whether it be for recognition of social status or for one’s own personal gratification. Sometimes seeing that bank account balance grow makes us feel a sense of personal gratification but at the same time we may be depriving ourselves of our basic comforts or companionship. There are probably many reasons why people view the legacy in different ways. Whether socially or in the work force, we all have a desire to please others. We also have the need to seek approval from others. Depending on our peers, this approval may either be positive or negative. I believe that after a period of time we become ingrained with the beliefs of the people who we interact with on a daily basis. As they say, “the more you hang out with someone, the more you start to act like them”. This one, I believe, entails more “work” on our own part. It requires us to do more with our lives. We also find ourselves asking ourselves questions about our own lives along with this type of legacy. For example, how have we lived our life? This legacy can also be affected by the some of the same things that affect the material legacy. This legacy can also be affected by our family history, our culture, our beliefs and our peers. However, this legacy also tends to rise above any negativity or adversity we may have experienced. The majority of this legacy is leading by example. How do we lead our daily life?
