The setting of this observation was held at home and the situation was the interaction between a mother and her daughter while the mother tried to feed the child. The mother, observed to display authoritative parenting style because she is not as controlling and demanding as compared to a parent with authoritarian parenting style. The mother also allow the child to explore and make her own decision based on her own reasoning. The mother tried to feed her 4 years old daughter which refuses to eat her dinner as she was so engrossed in watching the cartoon. The mother then tried to get the child's attention uses various body language such as leaning closer towards the child, moving forward to where the child is facing and also gesture like tapping the child shoulder and making eye contact while talking to the child to gain attention from her. After getting the daughter's attention for a few minutes, she ate a little bit but was still engaged in the cartoon series. The mother then uses ' I ' and ' You ' messages as described in The Ginott Model. For example, ' I want you to eat now.' Or ' You should be eating your dinner before daddy comes home.' After many tries, the mother tried to motivate the child, for instance, when the child eats, the mother motivate and encourage her by saying ' good job ' , ' that’s my girl '. Through constant motivation and encouragement, and by acknowledging good behaviour, encourages more good behaviour from the child. Lastly, mother used reward system to encourage child to finish her food. Mother said that if she finish her food, she will get a sweet later on and this motivates the child to finish her dinner as she know that after she finish her food she will gain something even better which in this case is the sweet, thus, she finished her food in the
