SUBJECTIVE WELL BEING AND RESILIENCE
Individuals with good subjective well being are able to be resilient. Subjective well being is made up of frequent positive feelings, less negative feelings and good life satisfaction. Therefore in this respect, individuals who are resilient, have less of the negative feelings and are able to see the positive side to what is happening each time. The negative feelings being less is a great way of bouncing back. If the entity of life satisfaction, by looking on to the achievements is still able to look into the brighter side of life, then resilience gains momentum.
Subjective well being and life satisfaction and positive feelings thus brings in resilience in individuals. In academic settings, it is very much essential to understand the greater meaning of the purpose of academics. The positive feelings and the motivation to look forward is very much needed to be resilient, over the psychological baggage, in the academic setting.
Resilience is the effective usage of coping strategies to overcome negative experiences ( Vaillant, 2003). Therefore it becomes a central idea in positive psychology and has connection with subjective well being. (Everly, 2009). Resilience can develop as an attribute of experiencing and effectively dealing with negative experiences. (Dunn, Uswatte & Elliot, 2009). There are number of protective factors within the person and culture to improve resilience. (Greve & Staudinger, 2006). Burns and Anstey (2010) says
