The Bill of Rights was drafted to protect the natural rights of all citizens and limit the federal government. Out of the ten amendments, I believe the first amendment is the most important one of all. The first amendment guarantees freedom of religion, speech, press and assembly and petition against the government. Freedom of religion permits all people to openly practice their religion without the fear of persecution or the limiting of their rights based on the religion they follow. Unlike other countries, where one can be executed for following a certain religion, this amendment prevents the government from establishing a national religion that everyone must follow.
