Engineering values: An approach to explore values in education and practice

Acoording to kapadia and joshi(2008), they believe that the “Values education in engineering is an effective way to sow the seeds of humanity in the young brains in order to enable them to grow as real professionals and multifaceted personalities who could live meaningful lives and serve the long run interests of (hu)mankind in general”, but they don’t have a big support in terms of knowledge, materials, and also funding for the value-based education pertinent to the engineerings. The educators want to educate and teach student skills necessary to be a management accountant, while the practitioners want the graduates to carry out the management accounting role. There’s a different between the management accounting and the financial accounting. There are some standards and recognized techniques within the field of accountants that teach by the educators but they cannot tell to the graduate if the managers want to implement the techniques. Institutions offering technical education face the challenge of building curricula better suitable to the needs of industries. The curriculum adequacy, at national and/or local levels, is essential to assure the placement of graduates [Universidade Estadual Paulista—UNESP. (2006).]. As the manufacturing industry rebounds from the last economic crisis, companies say they are struggling to replenish the workforce that was cut during the recession [Ratzenberger,(2011, Summer).]. The difficulty faced by industry is to hire graduates with appropriate higher education and expertise in the manufacturing field.
